Texas Floods

My first job working with the Red Cross was helping people who got flooded by all the rain we have had. My job was to register the people as they came in to the shelter. Here is the morning paper

the following pictures were taken the day after the flood waters peaked. It has receded quite a bit. the water was only 3-4 feet from the road in the next picture.

How doooo I get back to the barn?

The shelter was set up in the Baptist church in Eastland

Papa Paul

An evening with grand children

Friday, Jim and Kelly asked us to baby sit for a few hours.
As grammy Sue cooked supper, I got to play "go fish" with the kids. Sitting on the living room floor, we battled hard to get rid of our cards and keep Reese out of the fish pile. After a long struggle, Paige won the game(I need to go in to training for the next game).

We then went to the backyard for more physical exercise. Grammy Sue helped Reese and Paige work on their trampoline moves, and I worked with Troy and Trent on their football moves. We practiced fly patterns and crossing patterns. (trent remember to plant that left foot when you turn)

I learned a mother's trick at supper: give them twice as much as you want them to eat and then tell them they only have to eat half of it to get dessert. It worked! They all got a popsicle.

After another rousing card game( old maid) and a video, mom and dad arrived to take their urchins home.

Grammy Sue and I went to bed very tired that night but slept well as we had a wonderful evening with 4 of our precious grandchildren.
